HOGG

Nik Kershaw started to learn to play guitar when he was a teenager.

He met Russell Chesterman (who was also playing guitar) at Northgate Grammar School for Boys.

In 1974, while Nik Kershaw was still at school, he joined his first band, named THOR, as a guitar player and singer.

Other members of the band were Russell Chesterman on bass, Roger Waters playing the drums and Nig Cook also playing guitar and performing vocals.

Some changes happened the following year.

Kim Williamson became the new drummer.

The band's name became HALF PINT HOGG... which soon turned into HOGG.

The band performed for some gigs in Ipswich and its neighborhood from 1975 to 1978.

They were reportedly quite loud.

Russell Chesterman left the band and was replaced by Roy Little.

And Paul Hart replaced Nig Cook.

HOGG didn't gig that often.

And it was during one of their rare live performances that Kenn Elson offered Nik Kershaw the opportunity to fill the vacant guitarist role in the REG WEBB BAND.

A rare tape featuring five tracks from HOGG has supposedly surfaced in the past years.

At least three persons have it...

But this tape is still a major mystery to all Nik Kershaw followers...
