Around 2005, a six-track CDr was sold on e-bay.
It was entitled "Nik Kershaw - Work in Progress" and had three tracks from the 2005 Then & Now collection and three tracks from the 2006 "You've Got To Laugh" Album.
A shorter version of "Promises, Promises" is the sixth track on that CD.
It sounds exactly the same mix as that on that 2006 "You've Got To Laugh" Album, in a lesser quality, with a shorter fade out and without the one-second drum beat at the beginning of the song.
We have no proofs that this is a true "Work In Progress" alternate version. It could easily be fan-made.
A mystery to be solved.
