"(...) there were a few collaborations that never came to fruition, such as a track for Gary Barlow's second solo album that never saw the light of day.
“We probably wrote the worst song either of us had ever written,” he grimaces (...)".
When some rumors started to spread, in the early 2000's, that Nik Kershaw had co-written a song with Gary Barlow, fans looked for that song but couldn't find it.
And some fans tried to identify which of the Gary Barlow songs sounded like a Nik Kershaw song.
Forever Love seemed to be a good fit to some fans.
Yet, the credits on the record mention Gary Barlow as the sole writer of the song.
And more rumors started to spread.
It was claimed that Nik Kershaw was left off credits because it wouldn't help Gary Barlow gain success as a solo artist.
In early 2025, Nik Kershaw confirmed he had NOT being involved in the writing or composing of Forever Love with Gary Barlow.

Dean Rhymes: "Back in 2001 the wonderful artist and songwriter [Nik Kershaw] wrote a song together called "We're Only Human". Nik was an absolute pleasure to work with and an all-round great guy. Until now I have never even considered letting the track out to be heard. But looking through my older songs I heard it and wondered what you guys think. It would be great to read some comments on what you think. (...) Myself and Nik wrote this track together at his home in August and I went back September to finish up the vocals with Nik on backing vocals. Yes it is a complete track. I would very much like to release the whole track I just need a thumbs up from Nik".

Dangerous
This song was released in 2010 as track 2 of James Blunt's "Some Kind Of Trouble" album.
Il was also released as the main track of James Blunt's 2011 single.
The credits on both the album and the single mention James Blunt and Stephen Paul Robson as co-writers.
Nik Kershaw is NOT mentioned in the credits.
Yet, many websites identify Nik Kershaw as co-writer of the song.
The main reason is probably because the verses of the song sound a lot like the verses of Nik Kershaw's "The One and Only" song.
Was James Blunt inspired by Nik Kershaw's hit single?
Were parts of Nik Kershaw's song borrowed by James Blunt?
A mystery to be solved...
BUT... Nik Kershaw is officially NOT involved in the writing of this song.
