B03.01 Radio Musicola
Album version (5:51)
Available on the 1986 "Radio Musicola" album (vinyl LP, tape, CD and online digital file).
This version is also available on four collections.
bpm speed is slightly different on some collections.
1993 Best Of NK (Track 12 - 5:45)
1994 Wouldn't It Be Good (Track 13 - 5:51)
2000 The Essential (Track 16 - 5:36 - Shorter fade-out)
2001 I Won't Let the Sun Go Down On Me (Track 16 - 5:36 - Shorter fade-out)
2022 Essential Nik Kershaw (Track 4 - Disc 1 - 5:51)
A remastered version was also released on February 21st 2025 as track 1 of Disc 3 ("Radio Musicola" album) from the MCA YEARS box set.
7" Edit version (4:11 // 4:13 // 4:16)
This edit version was released on the NIK11 7" vinyl record in 1986 and as B-side of the 1987 German only "James Cagney" 7" record.
Some labels on records or back sleeve mention length that vary from 4:11 to 4:16.
Yet, when you listen to the recordings, you can notice that some tracks have some silence at the end of the song, which make the song appear to last longer.
Yet, the edit mix is in fact shorter than 4:16.
Some Nik Kershaw fans debated for years on whether this version is or is NOT available on CD.
Some claimed that the 7" version was NOT the same that can be found on some collections.
So I decided to have a deeper analysis of the 7" version, the 2005 "Then & Now" CD version and the video version.
You can read it HERE.
The conclusion is that the 7" version is EXACTLY the same version that can be found on the 2005 "Then & Now" CD version and the video version...
Yet, slightly different bpm speeds induce different track lengths.
Moreover, the video version has a slightly shorter fade out.
And the "Then & Now" CD version has a much shorter fade out.
A remastered version of the "Single Edit" was released on February 21st 2025 as track 13 of Disc 8 ("Remixes" CD) from the MCA YEARS box set.
The soundtrack of the 1986 video clip is the same 7" Edit version with a slightly shorter fade out
It was released on three video collection DVDs : 2005 "Classic Nik Kershaw", 2005 "Essentials Videos" and 2005 "Then & Now"
A remastered version was released on February 21st 2025 on the unique DVD from the MCA YEARS box set.
7" Shorter Edit version (4:00)
As mentioned here-above, track 10 on the 2005 "Then & Now" CD collection is the same mix as the 7" version but with a shorter fade out.
Note that length of the track is listed as 4:00, it is in fact a little shorter.
7" Alternate single version (4:00)
A previously unreleased mix is track 3 on the B side (first vinyl record) of the 2023 "Collected" vinyl collection.
Definitely different from the original 7" edit version.
Extended version / Extended mix (7:15)
This extended mix by Bryan "Chuck" New was released on the NIKT11 "Radio Musicola" 12" vinyl record in 1986 and as B-side of the 1987 German only "James Cagney" 12" record.
A remastered version is available as track 8 on disc 3 on the 2022 "Essential Nik Kershaw" CD collection.
Also released as track 23 of the 2022 online only "Extended Versions" collection.
The remastered version was released on February 21st 2025 as track 5 of Disc 7 ("Extended Mixes" CD) from the MCA YEARS box set.
Room Acetate Mix / Extended Remix (6:50)
A remastered version of this promo remix was released for the first time on CD on February 21st 2025 as track 14 of Disc 8 ("Remixes" CD) from the MCA YEARS box set.
Listen to it HERE.
