Fusion / The Reg Webb Band

Lyrics here :

Before his solo career, Nik Kershaw joined the Reg Webb Band in 1978.

It was a Jazz-Funk band based around Ipswich (England).

Nik Kershaw would play the guitar and performed some vocals.

Reg Webb was the front man of the band and played the keyboards.

He also performed most of the vocals.

Kenn Elson was the bass guitar player.

Alan Clarke was the drum player of the band.

Nik Kershaw : "(...) On one of the rare occasions I had a gig I got spotted by the bass player of a local band called Fusion - guess what kind of music they played!

They were professional band, they did functions, bar mitzvahs, weddings. The weird thing was I had to be asked to join twice.

Do I want to earn money playing music or working in the civil service for the rest of me life?

I actually said "no" the first time then thought, "What am I doing?", phoned up and said, "Yeah".

I was in the band for three years playing everything from Steely Dan and Weather Report to Cole Porter and "The Birdy Song".

It was a good apprenticeship (...)".

In 1979, The Reg Webb Band released their first album LP, entitled I Ain't Signing Nothin', in Germany and the Benelux countries.

The record company, the band had signed a contract with, became bankrupt before they could release the record in any other countries.

In 1980, the band became Fusion and re-issued their album in the UK with another record company.

Some change in the track list were made for this re-issue.

New songs, recorded in 1980, were added and some that were on the original release were rejected.

The band split up in 1982.

Hereafter, you'll find a list of all songs from the REG WEBB BAND / FUSION period.
